Finnair has announced its newest destination: Canada.

Specifically, Toronto, with new direct flights to Helsinki scheduled to begin May 4, 2026.

The new route is part of the airline’s transatlantic expansion and will mark the only direct connection between Canada and Finland.

The route will operate three times per week during the summer season on A330 aircraft, featuring Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.

Flights are scheduled to depart Toronto Pearson each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 11:40 p.m., arriving into Helsinki at 2:45 p.m. the following afternoon.

On the return, flights will depart Helsinki each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 4:50 p.m., arriving into Toronto at 6:35 p.m.

The route marks the first time Finnair has flown to Canada in over a decade, having last served Toronto in 2015.

Javier Roig Sanchez, Finnair’s GM, North America, says the new route will open up Canada to unserved cities across the Nordics and Baltics, including Tromsø, Tallinn and Bergen. Major cities across Europe will also become more accessible, including Berlin, Copenhagen, Rome and Warsaw.

Those travelling from Canada to India can also make use of the new service, with flights from Toronto timed to allow connections onto Finnair’s daily Delhi route.

Finnair will now offer flights to Helsinki from seven North American gateways in 2026: Chicago, Dallas Fort Worth, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Seattle and Toronto.

All North American services have been timed to allow for easy connections onto the carrier’s extensive European network, including 25 Nordic and four Baltic destinations. Transfers between flights can take as little as 40 minutes, thanks to all flights operating from the same terminal.
