New research, made possible through continued collaboration with BDMS Wellness Clinic

The Global Wellness Institute (GWI), the leading nonprofit dedicated to research and education in the global wellness industry, has announced the renewal of its partnership with BDMS Wellness Clinic for a third year. This ongoing collaboration ensures continued access to in-depth research on Thailand's evolving position within the $6.3 trillion global wellness economy.
Among the world's top 25 wellness markets, Thailand ranked #1 in wellness market growth from 2022 to 2023, with 28.4% growth, according to GWI's latest Wellness Economy Monitor. Thailand's wellness market grew from $31.6 billion in 2022 to $40.5 billion in 2023. Globally, Thailand is ranked as the 24th largest wellness economy, 9th in the Asia-Pacific region, and 15th worldwide for wellness tourism. Thailand's wellness economy and tourism sector
Like much of Asia, Thailand's wellness economy saw a contraction in 2020 due to the pandemic, declining by 31.6%. However, a strong rebound followed, with a growth rate of 28.4% from 2022 to 2023. This recovery has been primarily driven by wellness tourism, which generated $12.34 billion in 2023, marking a huge 119.5% annual growth rate from 2022 to 2023. Notably, international wellness travelers in Thailand spend on average $1,735 per trip, while domestic travelers spend just $367. Wellness real estate and thermal/mineral springs also experienced robust growth, with annual increases of 11.4% and 14%, respectively.
