A journey of flavours sampling Scotland’s national drink with stunning Highland scenery

With the recent World Whisky Day celebrations, Highland Explorer Tours, delivering award-winning tours throughout Scotland, invites clients to sample the country’s golden ‘water of life’ straight from the source. They can join the 4-day Isle of Islay Whisky Experience. The tour departs August 11th and September 15th, 2023.

Guests will embark on a journey to the natural beauty of the Isle of Islay, the ‘Queen of the Hebrides’. Renowned for its peaty and smoky malts, Islay is home to nine working distilleries, creating some of the finest and single malt whisky in the world. They will experience Gaelic culture first-hand with a knowledgeable local guide, stroll along scenic beaches, and sample some of the most sought-after Islay whisky. 

Trip highlights includes walking the Three Distilleries Path to Scotland's most famous whisky distilleries including tastings at Lagavulin, Ardbeg, and Laphroaig where stunning coastal views and drams await. Clients will also enjoy whisky distillery experiences at Ardbeg and Bruichladdich and tastings at Bowmore and Kilchoman distilleries. 

Islay is world-famous for its whisky and we invite clients to visit the distilleries on the island and sample some of the finest malts in the world,” says Graeme Ward,Managing Director of Highland Explorer Tours and Radical Travel Group. “There is a local saying: ‘Come for the whisky, return for the island’. Our guests will be charmed by the  coastal scenery, delicious cuisine, and the friendly locals,” he adds.

 Clients will also travel across the west of Scotland, stopping at the picturesque village of Luss, Loch Lomond where the Scottish TV drama series Take the High Road was filmed. They will explore Oban, Scotland's most popular west-coast holiday town and known as the seafood capital of the country. Onwards to the breathtaking valley of Glen Coe which has been designated as a national nature reserve. Its panoramic mountain views were featured in the James Bond film, Skyfall.
