A new boutique hotel with a vibrant atmosphere and art deco flair, opens in Fort Lauderdale Beach
Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, a new boutique hotel with a vibrant atmosphere and art deco flair, opens in Fort Lauderdale Beach. Formerly Kimpton Goodland, the newly-branded Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach will offer guests an elevated experience and updated programming taking cues from the original Kimpton Shorebreak Huntington Beach Resort. The resort will allow guests to experience the local lifestyle, sprawling beaches and varied entertainment options with on-property activities in music, fitness, mixology, wellness and more. The three-story resort has 96 thoughtfully-designed guest rooms, including two junior suites, each dispersed among airy hideaways and scenic courtyards filled with lush tropical flora.
When it opened in 1949, the original Escape Hotel was the first hotel near the beach to have a swimming pool and operate year-round. Located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale's North Beach Village neighborhood, just steps from the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, the now-Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale resort shares the best of both worlds: proximity to the beach and downtown's buzzing social scene. The proximity to local attractions allows guests to explore the sophisticated side of Fort Lauderdale with its polished mix of shops, historical attractions, restaurants and entertainment venues.
Furry friends are an extension of hotel guests' families and are welcomed with pet-friendly amenities like water bowls, doggie waste bags, leashes and treats at no extra cost.
As guests arrive at the porte cochère, they'll notice the hotel's exterior is accented with hues of blue as an ode to the glistening Atlantic Ocean. Inside, they're greeted by coastal tones that reflect the sea and warm fluted wooden panels. The lobby is adorned with plush seating and rattan accent chairs with mid-century light fixtures hanging above. At check-in, all are greeted with a signature welcome cocktail to set the scene for the vacation ahead.
Just off the lobby is the Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Resort's new on-site restaurant, La Fuga, meaning "the escape," paying tribute to the original hotel. The restaurant will feature a diverse menu of contemporary coastal Italian cuisine by Chef Michael Mayer and a wide selection of house spritzes, seasonal craft cocktails, local beer and wine. The indoor-outdoor space includes views of the hotel's scenic courtyard, plus a private dining room for up to 30 pax for intimate events or meetings. The restaurant will host regular promotions and special events, starting with Wine Down Wednesday (50% off wine bottles on a weekly rotation) and a daily social hour with complimentary glasses of wine for hotel guests.
Travelers can retreat to one of the hotel's two pool areas for a secluded, laid-back vibe. The ground-floor pool is a tranquil setting adjacent to La Fuga's patio, allowing guests to bask in the shade while admiring monstera and bird-of-paradise plants and curated murals by @chalkandbrush that illustrate the playful nature of the hotel's design aesthetic.
As guests make their way to the rooftop, they're greeted by a pop-up gallery at the elevator bank that will soon feature a rotating series of artworks in partnership with local creators. The show-stopping rooftop pool and bar has outstanding views of the Yachting Capital of the World. Guests can enjoy a refreshing cocktail during the Sunset State of Mind happy hour on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 9 p.m. During citywide events, the rooftop deck will serve as the ultimate celebratory location with a schedule of music, and activations on a regular basis.
Guests can also meander the hotel's hidden paths and courtyards, which provide an oasis that's at once soothing and vibrant with photo-worthy spots to unroll a yoga mat, lounge with a cold beer or engage in lively conversation. The hotel will host a seasonal s'mores happy hour every Friday and Saturday around a hidden fire pit, a communal space for guests to mingle and socialize.
As travelers make their way to their rooms, they are welcomed by a dichromatic design of teal and white details flowing throughout the courtyard with a simplicity that channels an art deco style. The guest rooms provide a cozy ambiance with playful details and property-exclusive elements like patterned wallpaper adorned with monkeys in the bedroom closets, a branded beach bag for fun in the sun, a yoga mat for indoor or outdoor exercise, and framed photography that pays tribute to the destination. The rooms also feature a stylish bedscape and a nod to the past with vintage-inspired turquoise Galanz mini-refrigerators and Marshall Bluetooth speakers with a QR code linked to the resort's curated Spotify playlist to set any mood. The minimalist bathrooms are adorned with black-and-white chevron tiled floors, bright surfaces, glass-enclosed showers and Atelier Bloem bath amenities.
No visit to South Florida is complete without a trip to Fort Lauderdale's world-famous beaches. The resort provides guests with beach transportation on a branded '57 Bel Air golf cart, two beach chairs per guest room in partnership with Boucher Brothers, boogie boards, kids' toys and beach towels. Curated picnic experiences will soon be available for guests upon request.
Wellness is a key component of Kimpton Shorebreak, thanks to an ongoing schedule of health and wellness programming. The resort houses a well-equipped fitness center complete with Technogym cardio machines, a free-weight section and a cable machine to fit anyone's workout routine. Complimentary branded bicycles are also available for those looking to tour downtown Fort Lauderdale while boosting their adrenaline. Wellness enthusiasts are encouraged to bring out their yoga mats on the courtyard, rooftop deck or beach to align their mind and body. And, through a partnership with local spin studio Cycleward Beachside, vacationers are invited to participate in a morning spin class using promo code Kimpton.
The newly positioned and newly programmed Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort is now accepting reservations with rates starting at $179 per night. To commemorate this transition, the hotel is offering a Third Night's a Charm promotion, including a complimentary third night with a welcome beverage and waived resort fees.
