News / Record Breaking Year in Canada for Ukraine Intl Airlines
Introducing a new summer aircraft
“Nothing short of remarkable!” That is how the 1st year of demand and operations for Ukraine International Airlines(UIA) were described related to the results on the Toronto to Kyiv route which commenced in June 2018.
To commemorate the success of UIA in Canada during the past 12 months, a special event was held on June 19 at YYZ attended by Travel Media, Top UIA agency accounts in Canada, Community representatives and Airport authorities. All present were brought on board the Boeing 777 which currently serves the YYZ-KBP route in order to see first-hand and appreciate the classes of service(Business, Premium Y and Economy) and display of catering offerings.
Some of the statements shared during the introductory speech underscored the strong acceptance and growth of UIA with the agency networks and ethnic travel communities.
Airlinepros is the commercial representative for UIA in Canada and its Director – Karl Müller was able to point out that “the market results have been remarkably better than initially expected or planned for.”
The YYZ-KBP route over the past 12 months has enjoyed an average 90% load factor, with sales in Canada expanding geographically and among different travel organizations such as Retail, Consolidators, Tour Operators and some TMC’s. Even US based passengers have been seeking the Toronto route for its convenience. UIA has Interline agreements with AC and WS.
An essential part of this success has been pinned to “undeniable travel value propositions such as attractive airfares and a vast route network with efficient connectivity at the modern Kyiv Boryspil International Airport.
Destinations such as Warsaw, Istanbul, Tel-Aviv, Amman, Delhi, Middle-East and Eurasian cities and Eastern Europe are all well within reach with UIA’s network.” Growth has developed to the point that the B767-300 service on the route was upgraded to B777 for the mid period of 2019 with the objective to make this permanent as soon as feasible operationally.
On behalf of UIA, the commemoration was overseen by Karl Müller and Ira Koliuda – Sales Manager for UIA ikoliuda@airlinepros.com
