The nine-day tour explores the origins of country, blues, jazz, and rock and roll

Luxury tour operator Tauck has announced a brand new itinerary for 2025 that traces the origins of some of America’s most celebrated music genres.

The nine-day ‘Music of America: Nashville to New Orleans’ tour will delve into the history of country, blues, jazz, and rock and roll, taking travellers through the heart of the South – Nashville, Memphis, the Mississippi Delta and New Orleans.

The tour will be highlighted by exclusive insights from renowned documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, whose award-winning films ‘Jazz and Country Music’ have been critical in exploring American musical heritage. Through a series of exclusive vignettes, Burns offers travellers a deeper understanding of the cultural roots and evolution of these musical genres, making this tour a one-of-a-kind experience.

Priced from $6,290 USD per person (double occupancy, excluding airfare), the tour includes 19 meals, guided city tours, and admission fees to various cultural sites. Tauck will offer departures between March and May, and in September and October, with special Small Group departures averaging 24 guests each.

An immersive journey

Beginning with a two-night stay at the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel Nashville, guests will enjoy a pre-opening private tour and presentation at the Country Music Hall of Fame, followed by an evening at the legendary Grand Ole Opry. From Nashville, the tour moves on to Memphis, where guests will visit the iconic Sun Studio and experience an exclusive, after-hours tour of Elvis Presley’s Graceland, capped off with dinner at the Presley Motors Automobile Museum.

In the Mississippi Delta, visitors will explore the Delta Blues Museum, enjoy a Southern lunch at the famous Club Ebony, and visit the B.B. King Museum. The journey concludes in New Orleans, with a private jazz performance at Preservation Hall, tours of Houmas House and Gardens, and a culinary demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking.

Culinary and cultural highlights

In addition to its musical focus, the tour offers a rich exploration of the region’s food and culture. Guests will savour traditional Southern and Creole cuisine, with dinners at renowned establishments like Tujague’s and Galatoire’s in New Orleans. A bourbon tasting at the historic Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville and a farewell dinner in the Big Easy further add to the immersive experience.
