Downtown Dublin is fairly compact, so you can easily get in some good, quick shopping! And the best part is it’s an alternative to the touristy Temple Bar area.

 

Grafton Street – Shopping Central

At the heart of Dublin, you will find Grafton St: a completely pedestrianized thoroughfare totally dedicated to the retail experience. Many of the staple chains are here: H&M, River Island, Marks & Spencer, Next, TedBaker, etc. (Marks and Sparks offers an astonishing food hall for some scrumptious nourishment to keep your energy up for shopping!)

The lifestyle department store Brown Thomas offers high-end luxury items for label-lovers. Tourist shops line the street but they’re easy to spot and avoid. Although, they are a great place to get your souvenir mug, fridge magnet or stuffed leprechaun.

There are also a number of good quality jewelry shops along the strip. Ireland has strong mineral resources with sterling silver and Connemara marble being the most sought-after and the two are often combined in some lovely memento jewelry.

For classier souvenirs, Euro City Concierge recommends heading over to the nearest House of Ireland outlet a few steps away from Grafton. 

 

 

Gentlemen’s Fashions

Dublin’s answer to London’s Jermyn St is Anne St, between Grafton and Dawson Streets. Gentlemen’s outlets like Hackett’s and TM Lewin are here as well as independent shops with curated collections.

 

 

St Stephen’s Green

At the southernmost end of Grafton St, you’ll find St Stephen’s Shopping Centre which houses over 100 major franchises. The architects blended modern elements with Dublin’s Georgian architectural style to create a bright and airy shopping centre. You’d be hard pressed to call it a “mall” in the traditional North American sense; it has a bit more style that that.

 

 

St George’s Market – Artisanal Finds

St George’s Market offers unique and hand-crafted products which makes it a terrific destination for one of those “stroll and peruse” shopping days. Perfect for when you have no real plan or agenda. You might just come away with a hidden gem.

 

 

Powerscourt Centre – Georgian Class

A converted Georgian building, the Powerscourt Centre features shops for designer apparel, jewelry, antiques and some charming cafes. You can’t beat parking yourself here for a short breather while exploring downtown Dublin. Grab a cuppa or some fresh-roasted java, and enjoy the exposed stone walls and fragrant aromas.

The stretch up Clarendon St to Wicklow St provides some of the funkiest, independent stores, restaurants and bakeries. This is where you’ll find the best in Irish entrepreneurship.
