We asked travels agents to share their favourite, weird and funny clients story! The winners are already picked, but we have received so many incredible entries that we feel way more agents should see them! 

To say thank you and show WheelsUp’s appreciation, we would like to reveal some of the best challenge entires we received from our incredible agents!

 

Debbie Brown

Debbie started her travel agency in 2008 working on it part-time, mainly to help friends and family with their travel plans. When she retired from her employment of 35 years, Debbie then turned her focus full-time to her Travel Agency "DB Wellness Travel", to help people plan, choose and arrange their holiday. Debbie's goal is to provide her clients with the best level of service and guidance. She loves getting to know her clients and helping them create lifetime memories. 

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"When you requested the Passport Names you should have said you need the complete name!"

 

 

Danielle Park

Danielle started in the travel industry in the early 80’s and worked for FINNAIR for 21 years. As a result of 9/11, her job was outsourced and she moved from NYC to Las Vegas. Danielle started with Prestige Travel (a full-service brick and mortar agency) when she first moved there in early 2004. Danielle left the company from 2010-2013 to work for another travel company, but came back to Prestige Travel. She enjoys working with her clients in-person. Her favorite trip is a cruise and my favorite cruise itinerary is Alaska.

Melissa Willows

Melissa has been an travel for 2.5 years in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She focuses on family and couples vacations. Melissa recently finished her CATP (Certified Autism Travel Professional) training, and have an CTC certificate.

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"2 older siblings sharing a room on a resort offering rooms on 1st & 2nd floor (which they knew)... one requested not to be on 1st floor while the other requested not to be on 2nd!"

 

 

Kay South

Kay has been an agent since 1986. She currently co-own the agency with her husband Rick South, Jr. Kay has worked selling air tickets, putting small groups together, selling family trips and FIT’s. Her agency is a traditional brick and mortar business established in 1976 focusing on leisure travel and small group travel. 

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"I had a guy who wanted to leave on a 7-day cruise within 3 days. He found out his wife was cheating on him and was just going to disappear and not tell her where he was."

Victoria Mearns

Victoria has been a travel agent for two years, and tries to focus on adventure travel!

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"We would like to vacation in Mexico for 2 weeks at this resort, but don't want to pay more than they advertise for one week! I don't understand why it costs more?"

 

 

Sarah Reed

Sarah's clients are leisure travellers. She has been in the industry since 2004, and really enjoys turning her clients dream trips into a reality.

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"I had one client ask me where to buy weed in destination many years ago. I am a Travel Consultant not a weed dealer!!"

 

 

Thecla Vis

Thecla has been an agent for about 37 years and just loves giving her client a unique experience; something absolutely out of the box. "I want them to come home saying “WOW!”

She specializes in Asia, Europe, Africa, and anything off-the-beaten path.Thecla was born in France, and have lived in Italy, Austria and Spain, so Europe is very much in her comfort zone. She is a citizen of the Netherlands, but have lived in the States for a very long time.

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"I had a client going to Brazil and I told him he needed a Visa. He told me he had one...little did I know he was talking about a credit card!"

 

 

Diane Dober

Diane has been an agent since 1989. and she does leisure travel and lives in Bend Oregon.

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"Client asked if there are flights to that big animal city??? My response....You mean Buffalo New York?????" Diane Dober

 

Janice Dalziel

Janice's main expertise is cruising – she is an MCC consultant, with a strong 2nd in Africa. "I’ve been an agent forever – 40 years? My first and only passion – I’ve been on all sides of the fence as an agent, a manger, and owner – then back to sales and consulting – I LOVE IT!!! I’ve worked with Merit Travel since 2003."

"I need to get to London to testify in a murder trial. My sisters husband killed her and I'm going to help nail that B*" Janice-Dalziel

 

 

Ramona Joyes

Ramona shares her retired colleagues' story who was a travel agent at Direct Travel for 50+years! Direct Travel Service Ltd has been in business since May 1961 and has great agents with lots of experience and lots of stories. Ramona has been at the agency for 30+ years. "We’ve seen a lot and laughed at a lot too," says Ramona.

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"Client brings in a 20 year old Las Vegas Poker Chip and wants to know if they can cash it in(or get a refund) LOL"

 

 

Mick Morrison

"Exploration is really the essence of the human spirit... and I love to explore whether it's after a 16 hour plane ride or on my quad wondering what's over the next rise on the trail!"

Mick started his travel career November 1988 with WardAir reservations in Edmonton. After Mick moved to Westmount Travel in 1990 and then to a newly opened travel agency called Vacations Plus in 1992. Five ownership changes later Mick found himself with Vision Travel!

Due to Mick’s clients adventures he has visited most every place on the planet through their experiences and with his pleasure in planning their adventures.

“Remember that spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later is a mistake,” says Mick!

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"Welcome home card sent to Mr & Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Smith calls and says I didn't go to Las Vegas. Decision made that going forward Welcome Home cards might not be in everyone's best interest."

 

 

Lorrie Ortega

Lorrie is a Franchise Owner / Personal Travel Concierge at the Cruise Planners and she has an amazing story to share with you!

 

Weird/Funny Clients Story:
"I had a Big Brother 18 cruise with James Huling & Natalie Negrotti. They broke up before cruise and Natalie ended up staying in my cabin! Our cabin was called the Head of the Household. I have stayed in contact with her since the cruise."
