This campaign in support of the Tourism Growth Strategy

ACTA is calling on the travel industry to join a letter writing campaign in support of the Tourism Growth Strategy.

Published last year, the Strategy includes several recommendations to the federal government on how to retain a sustainable travel & tourism workforce, include independent travel agents in future support programs, include travel agent commission protection in all federal supplier support programs, and more.

ACTA has learned that investments for the Tourism Growth Strategy, which is part of the federal budget, are being decided right now. For travel agents and independent travel agents, this investment includes: reducing the strain of labour shortages; improving the traveller experience through airports and other federal travel infrastructure; and reducing barriers to business development.

As a partner of the Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses, a cross-industry advocacy group for sectors most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, ACTA is joining a letter writing campaign to pressure decision-makers in Ottawa to continue to invest in Canada’s travel and tourism business, and is encouraging travel agents to take part.

To support the campaign, travel professionals can send a letter to their Member of Parliament for free here. To have the most impact, ACTA says letters should be sent this week.

It is critical that as many letters as possible are sent, and we are thankful to all for participating in this campaign,” said Wendy Paradis, ACTA President.
