Meliá Hotels International
Involving an investment of €8 million, the renovation has focused on a “bleisure” concept that includes new spaces for socializing and a stimulating design for modern business travellers

Meliá Hotels International continues to introduce new lifestyle hotels and brands in Barcelona. After the ME by Meliá hotel opened in 2021 to become a new avant-garde icon in the city's luxury hotel segment, now it is the turn of INNSiDE by Meliá, an affordable lifestyle brand which has seen rapid growth worldwide, designed for independent travellers with creative and curious minds and a shared lifestyle.

After the reform of the iconic Hotel Apolo, near the Port of Barcelona, the Fira and the Ramblas, the hotel will reopen on April 4 as the new INNSiDE Barcelona Apolo, faithfully reflecting the attributes of this innovative brand thanks to the architectural design implemented by ASAH (Álvaro Sans Arquitectura Hotelera).

Its 314 rooms have been completely renovated, including the spacious The Loft and The Townhouse, all with a contemporary, urban and inspiring design, and facilities including a yoga mat, Bluetooth speaker, USB ports and wireless charger, among others. All the rooms also offer a courtesy minibar and ecological bathroom amenities.

The reform focused particularly on the brand standards that aim to encourage more "life" in public areas, facilitating socializing and including informal work areas in a modern, spontaneous and carefree space.

The reception area has therefore been transformed into an Open Living Lounge, a hallmark of all the brand's hotels. This is the hotel's centre of gravity: a space which encourages interaction and combines the possibility of working, sharing experiences with other guests, renting a bike to tour the city or buying a souvenir from a selection of local arts and crafts.

With a total investment of almost €8 million, the hotel is also introducing new restaurant concepts that add extra movement and life to the lobby, such as the new Bite Box area, an informal bar and “grab and go" service with ready-to-eat dishes open 24 hours a day. The hotel La Terraza Restaurant has also been completely renovated to create an open area where guests can enjoy an international buffet breakfast or open-air dining in summer on the interior terrace.

INNSiDE by Meliá hotels are also designed for modern business travellers and fully adapted to their lifestyle. The new INNSiDE Barcelona Apolo pays special attention to all the details required by business travellers, including up to 1,200m² of flexible and stimulating spaces for meetings and events, as well as a new coworking space named The Kitchen, and a state-of-the-art Infit gym for visitors who want to stick to their work-out routine while travelling.

The hotel also aims to strengthen ties with the local community and become a genuine ambassador for the destination, providing spaces to showcase the work of local artists and ensuring employees are experts in the city and able to give guests the best advice. As in all of the brand's hotels, INNSiDE Barcelona Apolo will also have its own programme of social, leisure and cultural events to fill every corner of the hotel with life.
