New style of hotels for Meliá!
Meliá Cuba has added five new hotels with a total of 409 rooms to its portfolio in Cuba during the first quarter of this year. Hotel La Unión, Hotel Jagua and Hotel Meliá San Carlos are located in Cienfuegos. Hotel Colón and Gran Hotel are located in Camagüey. The properties represent a new style of hotels for Meliá in Cuba in that they are small to medium-size hotels that are set inside historical buildings.
Meliá San Carlos, in the heart of Old Cienfuegos, is in what was the city’s main hotel throughout the first half of the 20th century after it opened in 1925. The eclectic facade and stylish lobby have been maintained from the original architecture, and new inner courtyards, a restaurant and a bar have been added.
Both managed by Meliá Hotels International, Hotel La Unión is a quaint B&B consisting of 49 rooms, while Hotel Jagua is a contemporary 173-room hotel in the district of Punta Gorda, next to the Cienfuegos Bay and five minutes from the Old Town.
Also managed by Meliá, Hotel Colón, found in the historic centre of Camagüey, has 44 rooms and is known for its charming courtyard and its tasteful décor. Once renovations are completed, it will reopen as the Meliá Colón.
Gran Hotel, managed by Meliá, is a three-star hotel that offers various types of accommodation with 72 rooms on three floors. It also has a small function room and a pool. It will be rebranded as the Meliá Gran Hotel after renovations are finished.
By the end of this year, Meliá Hotels International will have also opened two new flagship hotels with the Meliá Internacional Varadero, opening in November, and the Paradisus Los Cayos in Cayo Santa María, opening in December.
