The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) celebrated the upcoming launch of Air Transat’s new non-stop service between Montreal (YUL) and Agadir (AGA) last night with the inaugural flight scheduled for June 12. Representatives from the MNTO and Air Transat were joined by a delegation of tourism partners and hoteliers from Agadir, as well as Canadian tour operators, travel agents, travel advisors and members of the media at Montreal’s iconic Vieux Port event space for an evening that further solidified the strong bonds between Morocco and the Quebec travel market. The evening was honoured by the presence of Her Excellency Souriya Otmani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Canada, alongside representatives from Global Affairs Canada and the Forum of Federations.

Inspired by the spirit of Agadir, the evening immersed guests in a sensory journey through Morocco. Attendees were welcomed by Air Transat flight attendants and invited to experience a series of Moroccan-inspired activations, including relaxing hand massages with argan oil, tastings of traditional amlou, freshly pressed juices, and artisanal ice cream featuring uniquely Moroccan flavours such as argan oil, dates and orange blossom, and verbena. The event also featured destination presentations, networking opportunities with tourism professionals from Agadir, and a prize draw offering attendees the chance to win a pair of Air Transat tickets. Together, these experiences provided guests with an authentic taste of Moroccan hospitality while highlighting the culture, flavours, and lifestyle that await Canadian travellers in Agadir.

The new route will be the first-ever non-stop flight offered between Montreal and Agadir and the first direct connection between North America, providing Canadian travellers with direct access to one of Morocco’s premier seaside destinations. Operated on the Friday of each week, this historic route is expected to further support Agadir’s rise as a major tourism gateway.

It also speaks to Morocco’s growing popularity with Canadians and the MNTO’s strong commitment to bolstering connectivity to the destination in the Canadian market: In 2025, Morocco welcomed a record 258,304 Canadian visitors, representing a 29% increase compared to 2024. This positive momentum has continued into 2026, with 75,839 Canadian arrivals recorded by the end of April, up 8% compared to the same period last year.

The launch of the Montreal–Agadir service further strengthens Morocco’s air connectivity with Canada and complements Air Transat’s existing annual non-stop service between Montreal and Marrakech. Together, these routes provide Canadian travellers with greater flexibility when planning their Moroccan journeys, including the opportunity to arrive through one gateway and depart from another, combining destinations such as Marrakech and Agadir within a single itinerary.

Morocco is now served by several direct flights from Canada, including Air Transat’s services from Montreal to Marrakech and Agadir, as well as Royal Air Maroc’s direct flights from Montreal to Casablanca and Toronto to Casablanca. These connections offer convenient access to the Kingdom’s diverse regions and reinforce Morocco’s position as one of the most accessible destinations in Africa for Canadian travellers.

Known for its near-omnipresent sunshine, Agadir combines all the charm and history of Morocco with the breezy, laid-back appeal of a seaside resort. This gem on the Atlantic is beloved by foodies, surfers, beach-loungers, and sun-seekers. Its cosmopolitan, modern tourism offering speaks to the dynamic character of Morocco as a destination.
