News / Agadir, Morocco's best-kept coastal secret, is now directly connected to Montréal
Air Transat and the Morocco National Tourist Office have launched the first-ever nonstop route between Montréal and Agadir, opening up southern Morocco's stunning Atlantic coast to Canadian travellers

The Morocco National Tourist Office (MNTO) and Air Transat have launched a historic new nonstop route connecting Montréal (YUL) to Agadir (AGA) — the first-ever direct flight between the two cities and the first direct air link between North America and southern Morocco. The route officially launched on June 12, making Agadir more accessible to Canadian travel agents and their clients than ever before.
Why Agadir?
Often described as one of the most beautiful bays in the world, Agadir stretches along Morocco's western Atlantic coast with a 10-kilometre beachfront, palm-lined promenades, and more than 300 days of sunshine per year. Styled more like a Mediterranean resort town than a traditional Moroccan city, Agadir offers a distinctive experience that may surprise clients who think they already know Morocco.
Three Experiences to Add to Every Agadir Itinerary
1. Souss Massa National Park & Paradise Valley
For nature-loving clients, Agadir delivers some of Morocco's most spectacular landscapes. The Souss Massa National Park is home to more than 250 bird species — including the rare bald ibis — as well as antelopes and protected wildlife. Just one hour away, Paradise Valley and the foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains offer hiking routes, natural pools, argan forests, and agricultural landscapes shaped by centuries of Berber tradition.
2. Taghazout — Morocco's Premier Surf Village
Just north of Agadir, Taghazout has transformed from a quiet fishing village into one of Morocco's most recognized surf destinations. With its relaxed coastal atmosphere, sweeping Atlantic ocean views, vibrant cuisine, and rich local culture, the Agadir–Taghazout region is a compelling warm-weather escape — particularly for clients in Canada's colder climates looking for sun, surf, and scenery.
3. Souk El Had — One of the World's Largest Traditional Markets
For an authentic taste of everyday Moroccan life, Souk El Had is a must. Ranked among the largest traditional markets in the world, this expansive souk features around 6,000 stalls organized across clearly marked sections, making it surprisingly easy to navigate. Clients can explore everything from spices, olives, and fresh produce to handmade ceramics, textiles, leather goods, jewellery, and rugs — all while sampling traditional Moroccan dishes, grilled seafood, and street snacks at designated food areas.
Booking Information for Travel Agents
The new Montréal–Agadir nonstop route via Air Transat is the most convenient option for Canadian clients. Additionally, multiple one-stop itineraries are available from major North American gateway cities, including New York (JFK), Boston, Los Angeles, and Chicago, operated by carriers such as Royal Air Maroc, Air France, British Airways, and Iberia.
