News / Porter Airlines hooks up with the Fort Distillery for cocktails on board
The Fort Distillery's Tumbler & Rocks ready-to-drink cocktails will be available on all Porter Airlines' flights from February 1
Canadian regional carrier Porter Airlines is expanding its inflight drinks options as it continues its growth across North America.
The freshly-squeezed partnership will see the airline team up with Fort Saskatchewan-based The Fort Distillery to provide a range of cocktails for passengers across Porter Airline’s network.
Shaken or stirred?
Following Porter Airlines’ recent redevelopment of its inflight catering services, the carrier has launched a new collaboration with The Fort Distillery, which will see the artisanal drink maker’s Tumbler & Rocks ready-to-drink cocktails available on all routes from February 1.
The Fort Distillery’s Tumbler & Rocks collection provides passengers with a range of pre-mixed cocktails, from gin-based martinis and tequila-heavy margaritas, varying in strength from around 20% to 30% alcohol volume.
“So, you’ve got your old fashioned, right, which is whiskey-based. You’ve got your martini, which is a classic gin martini. And then the margarita – that’s just an awesome summer drink,” The Fort Distillery founder Nathan Flim told Global News Canada.
“The brand just really works well on an airline, because it’s a single serve. It’s everything is in there. You just put it over ice and you’re good to go.”
Along with providing a unique in-air experience for passengers, the partnership is set to boost The Fort Distillery’s market growth, create jobs, and support the local economy. Flim described the venture as “a dream come true” for the 5-year-old company as it moves to scale up its production to meet demand.
Elevating economy
The airline has notably been pushing to develop its “elevated economy for everyone” branding, providing a top-tier passenger experience for all travelers.
Earlier this month, Porter Airlines announced a refresh of its inflight dining options, focusing on Canada’s highest-quality food and beverages. Developed with sustainability in mind, the new menu features plant-based and gluten-free options for all flights, boxed within biodegradable packaging.
he airline added an array of items from various local companies, including craft beer from Ontario-based Beau’s Brewing Company, Jackson-Triggs Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Sauvignon wines, and coffee from Balzac’s Coffee Roasters, all complimentary on Porter Airlines’ signature PorterClassic services.
Within the newly launched all-inclusive PorterReserve, more options will be available on longer-haul flights, with passengers able to order cheese boards, healthy smoothie bowls, vegetarian buddha bowls, seasonal fruits, and even sandwiches freshly prepared in Toronto.
“All of our food and beverage partners are Canadian, deeply passionate about their craft, and have strong relationships within their communities,” said Kevin Jackson, Porter Airlines’ executive vice president and chief commercial officer.
“Porter is aligning our brand with premium partners who emulate our values and the distinct service that we pride ourselves in delivering. With a focus on high-quality products, generous service and competitive prices, our passengers will experience economy air travel in a way that no other airline is offering.”
