RIU Hotels & Resorts
The new build marks RIU’s sixth hotel in Cancun and brings the chain’s total to 15 in Quintana Roo and 23 across Mexico

RIU Hotels & Resorts has expanded its footprint in Cancun with the opening of the Riu Ventura, a 705-room property located beside Playa Delfines in the city’s hotel zone.

The new build marks RIU’s sixth hotel in Cancun and brings the chain’s total to 15 in Quintana Roo and 23 across Mexico.

The Riu Ventura introduces several firsts for the company in Mexico, including an adults-only pool and Sky Bar on the sixth floor and a collection of 36 rooms with private swim-up pools on the first floor. The swim-up category, designed to offer improved privacy and views, has not previously been available at any RIU resort in the country.

The resort’s design emphasizes flexibility for both families and adults. There are six bars in total, including the vibrant Sky Bar on the sixth floor featuring an adults-only pool with panoramic views. Ground-level amenities include four outdoor pools and a family-friendly water play zone. Plus, a full entertainment program is available day and night, complemented by supervised activities for younger guests at the Riu Land kids club.

Dining is also a major focal point of the new resort, with a broad range of international options. Guests can choose from Asian cuisine at Kaori, Mexican dishes at Agave, Italian classics at Rimini, and fusion selections at Kulinarium. A steakhouse rounds out the à la carte selection. The resort’s main buffet features live cooking stations alongside two casual snack venues: Pepe’s Food for grilled favourites and Tiki Tako for Mexican tacos. The sports bar introduces RIU’s new American-country concept, offering à la carte comfort food along with 24-hour drinks and snacks.

The Riu Ventura also grants access to RIU Party, the themed entertainment program hosted at the nearby Riu Caribe. The series includes the White Party, Jungle Party, Pink Party and Neon Party, four weekly themed events that regularly draw large crowds and deliver a lively atmosphere.

Wellness and fitness round out the resort’s offerings. Guests can work out in the gym or unwind at Renova Spa, which features a full menu of treatments and massages.

The company says the new opening reinforces its long-term commitment to Mexico, where it employs more than 12,600 people. RIU will continue its investment in 2026 with renovations planned for Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun and Hotel Riu Palace México in Playa del Carmen, followed by the construction of the new Hotel Riu Palace Quintana Roo in Costa Mujeres.
