Riviera Nayarit has strengthened its efforts to encourage sustainable development with EarthCheck

March 18 - The Riviera Nayarit, one of Mexico’s most popular beach destinations with domestic travelers, has strengthened its efforts to encourage sustainable development with EarthCheck, the leading sustainability program for the travel and tourism industry.

Marc Murphy, managing director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), stated that the Riviera Nayarit remains committed to offering a destination that allows different types of travelers to enjoy safe spaces and exclusive experiences in unique natural settings.

We want to create greater awareness of the travel experiences available in the Riviera Nayarit, but in doing so, we also seek to ensure that our tourism activities do not harm the environment or the local community, which is why we adhere to EarthCheck standards.

Some of the compliance standards include conserving biodiversity, societal contributions, community actions, and supporting local suppliers, among others.

Since 2016, the CVB has maintained the Fraccionamiento Náutico Turístico Nuevo Vallarta neighborhood within a select group of sustainable tourism locations certified under the international EarthCheck standard the Silver certification level.

Likewise, the Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta hotel development and the Hard Rock Vallarta, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, Grand Palladium Vallarta, and Iberostar Playa Mita hotels also have the EarthCheck Certified seal, with which they demonstrate their environmental and social achievements, as well as assuring their consumers that the destination practices what it preaches.
