As the Fort Myers area continues to recover from the impact of Hurricane Ian, 65% of the county’s guest rooms have opened with more to come in the weeks and months ahead. This milestone of 9,302 rooms opening throughout Lee County is another step in the right direction.

The Sanibel Causeway reopened to the public on January 2nd, just a day after the tolls on the Sanibel Causeway were reinstated. Sanibel’s recovery progress includes 80% of right-of-way debris being removed from the East Periwinkle Way bridge. 

With the reopening of the Sanibel Causeway, visitors can now experience Captiva Cruises, operating out of McCarthy’s Marina with a limited schedule to Cabbage Key Island and Boca Grande.

Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa recently reopened, making it the first resort on Captiva Island to welcome back visitors. Boca Grande beaches and state parks reopened along with The Gasparilla Inn.
