WestJet Rewards is expanding its reach to Sunwing Vacations, giving members more ways to earn, redeem and use benefits on eligible vacation packages.

Effective immediately, guests booking eligible Sunwing Vacations packages can earn WestJet points, tier qualifying spend and milestone qualifying spend. Silver, Gold and Platinum members will also be able to access select day-of-travel benefits when flying with WestJet.

“Fully integrating Sunwing Vacations into the WestJet Rewards program is an exciting step forward in delivering even greater value for Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast,” said Steve McClelland, WestJet Vice-President, Loyalty and Strategic Partnerships. “We’re creating more opportunities for members to turn travel and everyday spending into meaningful rewards, helping them get to their next vacation sooner and make the most of their travel experiences.”

How It Works

Members can earn one WestJet point for every Canadian dollar spent on eligible Sunwing Vacations packages. Each guest on the booking who provides a WestJet Rewards ID will earn based on their individual share of the total package price, excluding taxes, fees and charges.

Members will also earn tier qualifying spend and milestone qualifying spend at a rate of 20% of their individual share of the eligible package price, again excluding taxes, fees and charges.

Silver, Gold and Platinum members travelling on a Sunwing Vacations booking can use day-of-travel benefits including free checked baggage allowance and priority services when checking in with WestJet for their flights.

Members can also continue redeeming WestJet points toward up to the full cost of an eligible Sunwing Vacations package, including taxes, fees and charges. A minimum redemption of 5,000 points is required. WestJet Rewards members have been able to redeem points on eligible Sunwing Vacations packages since early 2024.

Additional Perks

WestJet Rewards is also highlighting its account-linking partnerships with TELUS, Canadian Tire and Skip, which allow members to earn and redeem WestJet points through everyday spending.

All WestJet Rewards members, including those booking Sunwing Vacations packages, can also access complimentary WestJet Wi-Fi presented by TELUS on equipped flights. The service supports activities such as streaming video, gaming, downloading apps and browsing online.

Travellers can check Wi-Fi availability for an upcoming flight through WestJet’s Flight Guide within 72 hours of departure.
