News / Air Canada responds to reports of more U.S. route suspensions
The cancellations may affect frequent flyers and business travellers

Air Canada is responding to reports of five U.S. route cuts.
Multiple outlets have noted that the airline plans to cancel several U.S. routes for winter 2025-26 amid cross-border tensions and the trade war.
The routes are Vancouver-Nashville, Vancouver-Tampa, Toronto-Indianapolis, Montreal-Detroit and Montreal-Minneapolis.
“The Vancouver–Nashville route was always intended to be seasonal, and the two weekly flights between Vancouver and Tampa have also always been seasonal,” Air Canada told Profession Voyages, part of The Travelweek Group.
“As for the other routes, their suspension was a commercial decision, but we will continue to serve those destinations via Toronto, with the exception of Indianapolis. We are currently planning to resume the Montreal–Detroit and Minneapolis routes, as well as Toronto–Indianapolis, in May 2026. Winter is generally considered to be the period between October 30 and April 30, although the shoulder months can vary.”
