Intrepid Travel
The carbon label reflects Intrepid's commitment to transparency and eco-conscious travel

Intrepid Travel has launched carbon labelling on 500+ itineraries – including its top 100 trips.

Intrepid says this is the latest step in the company’s larger commitment towards transparency and more climate-conscious travel.

Now displayed on over half of Intrepid’s trip pages, the carbon label will show the total CO2-e of the trip per traveller, per day.

While Intrepid offsets emissions for all trips and continues to decarbonize its tours where possible, these labels will help travellers understand and compare the impact of their travels, including benchmarking it against everyday activities for better context.

Without higher government regulations or the need for ESG disclosure, it is nearly impossible to hold businesses accountable for reducing their emissions,” said Sara King, GM of Purpose for Intrepid Travel.

We cannot shy away from our impact, and we cannot effectively reduce what we do not measure. With carbon labeling, we can increase customers’ understanding of their footprint while advocating for this level of measurement and transparency to become an industry standard,” King added.

A recent research report conducted by The Harris Poll for Intrepid Travel showed that 64% of people globally have no idea what their carbon footprint is. However, according to the survey, 60% would be more likely to book trips with a company that is transparent about their environmental impact, and more than one in two people globally would be more willing to alter their plans if they could easily see and understand the carbon impact of each travel option.

In addition to the rollout of carbon labels, Intrepid remains committed to developing lower carbon itineraries.

In 2024, the company will have approximately 4,000 fewer flights on trips (compared to 2023) and will be discontinuing all scenic flights.
