News / Paul Gauguin Cruises to sail family-friendly Moana Explorer Program voyages for the 7th consecutive year in 2027
Created by French Polynesia’s destination expert and the South Pacific’s leading marine

For families sailing on Paul Gauguin Cruises, it’s important for children to experience French Polynesia in a fun and educational way. That’s why the award-winning luxury line—recognized for its leadership and sustainability efforts throughout the region— is building upon its Moana Explorer Program with 12 voyages scheduled for 2027 on m/s Paul Gauguin.
The complimentary program, developed in partnership with Te mana o te moana, the South Pacific’s leading marine education and conservation foundation, launched in 2020 as a way to engage young guests in hands-on, educational activities both on board and ashore. Kids aged six to 15 participate in various activities led by naturalists and conservationists, while learning about the region’s coral reefs, endemic species, and fragile ecosystems.
Activities vary by itinerary but might include guided snorkeling; crafts, such as the chance
for kids to make natural jewelry and design their own Polynesian tattoo; water experiments;
treasure hunts; stargazing; pool games; and board games that introduce them to life underwater.
The Moana Explorer Program is available on the following summer and holiday voyages in 2027:
7-Night Tahiti & the Society Islands
Overnights in Bora Bora, Moorea, and Tahiti
7-Night More Society Islands & Tahiti
A return to sacred Raiatea and overnights in Bora Bora and Tahiti
10-Night More Tuamotus & Society Islands
Exploring lagoons in Fakara and Rangiroa; overnights in Bora Bora and Moorea
11-Night Society Islands & Tuamotus
Fakarava’s UNESCO Marine Biosphere Reserve and Huahine’s lush rainforest
11-Night Cook Islands & Society Islands
Untarnished landscapes in Aitutaki and Rarotonga; overnight in Bora Bora
14-Night Marquesas, Tuamotus & Society Islands
Jungle-clad, archaeologically rich Marquesan Islands; lagoons of Fakarava and Bora Bora
Guests will also find the Moana Explorer Program on select, remaining 2025 voyages, as
well as on 11 departures scheduled throughout 2026. Travelers who book any of the 2026 voyages by November 15 will receive a $1,000 shipboard credit. There is no fee for the program, which is part of the line’s all-inclusive cruise fares.
To add even more value for families, kids 17 years old and younger sail for free when
traveling in the same suite or stateroom as their parents. For details on the Moana Explorer
