News / Porter’s first Central America route takes flight
Toronto Pearson - Liberia, Costa Rica.

Porter Airlines is celebrating the launch of new nonstop service between Toronto Pearson and Liberia, Costa Rica.
The roundtrip route, first announced in June and launching today, represents Porter’s first entry into Central America and strengthens the carrier’s southern network for the winter travel season.
Flights operate up to six times per week using the airline’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The service is the fourth in a series of new southern routes for Porter, following recent launches to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Nassau. The Liberia addition also complements Air Transat’s network through the carriers’ joint venture, giving Canadian travellers more options to reach warm-weather destinations.
“The start of service to Costa Rica means Canadians can now fly Porter when travelling to the Guanacaste province, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes that Liberia and the surrounding area have to offer. The country is a second home for many Canadians and now they have the option to begin their trip with the care and genuine hospitality that only Porter provides,” said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting.
Onboard, travellers can expect Porter’s elevated economy experience, which includes no middle seats, complimentary beer and wine served in real glassware, free premium snacks and free high-speed WiFi. For those booking PorterReserve, added perks include healthy meals, priority check-in, two checked bags and flexible booking terms. Similar features can be purchased à la carte under PorterClassic fares.
VIPorter members can redeem points for Porter or Air Transat flights to sun destinations starting at 10,000 points one way.
Porter will further expand its Costa Rica service with Ottawa–Liberia flights launching Dec. 17. Full schedule information is available at flyporter.com.
