RBC has relaunched Avion Rewards Travel with a booking platform that combines flights, hotels, car rentals, activities and vacation packages with AI-powered pricing tools and flexible points redemption.

The new platform, developed with Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS), gives members access to more than 500 airlines while adding features such as real-time fare tracking, automated price alerts and historical pricing data designed to help travellers decide when to book.

The launch comes as Canadian travel spending is up 11.4% year over year, according to recent RBC spending data.

It’s also the latest in a long line of big-name brands to hone in with online booking capability, after hotel booking capability launched on Uber earlier this summer.

Among the new features is price prediction, which uses AI-driven data to help members determine when to book and alerts them when fares drop. Members can also set price watches and receive email notifications when airfare changes. The platform allows users to book flights across more than 500 airlines. Avion credit cardholders will continue to have access to fixed-points pricing with no blackout dates or seating restrictions, including during peak holiday periods.

Members can pay using Avion points, a credit card, travel credits or a combination of payment methods. Points can also be applied toward taxes, fees and surcharges. Avion Elite and Avion Premium members can continue converting Avion points into frequent flyer points or miles with select airline partners. The platform also uses members’ booking history and travel preferences to personalize the experience.
