News / St. Vincent and the Grenadines provides update on flights & hotels for 2022 winter season
SVGTA wants to remind Canadians looking to visit the destination this winter, they can still do so via Barbados
With the Omicron variant impacting flights worldwide, Air Canada recently made the announcement that it is suspending service to various sun destinations, including St. Vincent and the Grenadines. However, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) wants to remind Canadians looking to visit the destination this winter, they can still do so via Barbados.
“While the suspension of Air Canada’s direct flights from Toronto to St. Vincent is certainly disappointing, we want to remind Canadians that alternatives are available, including via Air Canada’s weekly direct service from Toronto (YYZ) and Montreal (YUL) to Barbados (BGI),” said Glenn Beache, CEO for the SVGTA. “Upon arrival in Bridgetown, it’s a quick 45-minute flight to Argyle International Airport, with lots of departure options available on regional airlines.”
In terms of where to stay upon arrival, travellers have lots to choose from, depending on the type of trip they are craving, including one new addition:
La Vue Boutique Hotel and Beach Club is a new five-star property located on St. Vincent that just opened its door with a soft launch event last month (Dec. 10). Boasting panoramic views of Cross Island, Young Island, Fort Duvernette, Bequia and part of Mustique, the hotel features 19 guestrooms, three restaurants, several bars, a gym (with squash court and sauna), a spa, and tennis court. The hotel is also fully wheelchair accessible.
Other notable options include: Sandy Lane Yacht Club & Residences on Canouan, which is now a port of entry for SVG, meaning yachts can clear all immigration/customs/Covid protocols on property; Petit St. Vincent Private Island Resort in the southern Grenadines, a 115-acre tropical paradise/boutique beach resort where low-key luxury meets high-end service; Beachcombers Hotel a 48-room boutique hotel on St. Vincent; and so much more!
For anyone planning on visiting the destination, the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has released updated COVID-19 protocols. Fully vaccinated travellers must arrive with proof of vaccination and a negative PCR test completed no more than 72 hours or three days before arrival. These travellers will not be retested during their stay, nor will they have to complete any mandatory quarantine upon arrival. Full details can be found here.
