News / St. Vincent and the Grenadines ready to welcome back Canadians
Air Canada flight service resumes, new website & latest COVID protocols
As the winter season kicks off, St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is looking forward to welcoming back Canadian visitors, made that much easier starting December 6 with the resumption of non-stop flight service between Toronto and St. Vincent with Air Canada.
“We are very excited to welcome back our Canadian friends after such an extended absence and are delighted with the return of Air Canada’s non-stop service from Toronto to St. Vincent,” said Glen Beache, CEO of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA). “Air Canada was the first North American carrier to operate flights here and they will once again be instrumental in increasing visitation.”
Operating non-stop, weekly service, flights will depart on Mondays on board Air Canada’s mainline 737Max.
In other exciting news, SVGTA recently relaunched it website – DiscoverSVG.com – which now features a completely revamped and remodeled look, feel, and functionality designed to enhance the user experience while also packed with information and inspiration for those planning on, or thinking of, visiting the islands.
“With all that is happening globally, and resources being incredibly difficult to come by, having a strong digital marketing presence allows us to reach potential visitors we ordinarily would not be able to,” said Beache. “Social media is a staple of any digital marketing strategy, but ultimately having a functional website that offers an aesthetically-pleasing, informative, and user-friendly experience is any organization’s most important advertising and information-sharing medium.”
For anyone planning on visiting the destination, the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has released updated COVID-19 protocols. Fully vaccinated travellers must arrive with proof of vaccination and a negative PCR test completed no more than 72 hours or three days before arrival. These travellers will not be retested during their stay, nor will they have to complete any mandatory quarantine upon arrival. Full details can be found here. For anyone arriving via cruise ship, there is a separate set of protocols that can be found here.
“Following a successful Virtual Canadian Roadshow in October, and a Sun Destination campaign with Air Canada right after, we here at the Canadian office in Toronto are ready to assist agentsand their clients with any queries about the destination,” said Shelley John, Director of Sales Canada for the SVGTA.
