Toronto Pearson is moving ahead with the next phase of its long-term transformation, announcing a $1.5-billion investment to modernize Terminals 1 and 3 as part of its Pearson LIFT program.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) has awarded the design contract to NORR-DIALOG, a joint venture between Ontario-based firms NORR and DIALOG, while PCL Construction will serve as Construction Manager at Risk for the project.

The revitalization program is designed to modernize aging infrastructure while improving the overall passenger journey through Canada’s busiest airport. Planned upgrades include expanded terminal spaces, refreshed lounges, enhanced baggage processing, modernized check-in areas, additional charging stations, upgraded security screening and improvements to customs and immigration facilities.

Construction will be completed in phases to allow the airport to remain fully operational while minimizing disruption for passengers and airline partners.

The terminal project is the second major initiative under Pearson LIFT, the airport’s long-term modernization strategy. In May, Toronto Pearson broke ground on a separate $3-billion investment focused on airside infrastructure and baggage systems.
