A few route suspensions, cancellations and delays are reportedly in the works for several of Canada’s airlines.

According to aviation consulting firm Ailevon Pacific, WestJet has suspended service between Waterloo and Calgary effective Oct. 24, 2026 through April 24, 2027.

Air Transat has removed winter sun flights to Ft. Lauderdale from Halifax and Montreal from its schedule.

Air Transat spokesperson Marie-Eve Vallières told Travelweek earlier this year that Air Transat has gradually reduced its exposure to the U.S. market since 2022.

“Air Transat’s presence in the United States remains very marginal today, representing only 1% of our available seat‑kilometre capacity [for summer 2026],” she said in February 2026, when news came that the last of Air Transat’s U.S. routes were winding down in the spring.

Porter meanwhile has reportedly delayed the start of its service from Billy Bishop (YTZ) to Chicago O’Hare to Oct. 25. The original start date was Sept. 1.

Canada’s airlines have been making adjustments to transborder routes for more than a year now amid the ‘Elbows Up’ movement and the downturn in travel from Canada to the U.S.
