“Due to the increase in violence in Haiti, we are forced to suspend our flights to/from Port-au-Prince until the situation is deemed safe for our crews and customers. At this time, flights are cancelled until January 15, 2025”

Air Transat has temporarily suspended its flights to and from Haiti amid ongoing civil unrest.

Tensions between gang members and police have ramped up to such violence that last week residents were fleeing the few neighbourhoods in Port-au-Prince that hadn’t already been taken over by gangs.

At the start of last week Air Transat announced the cancellation of its November 13 flights to and from PAP.

By Friday the airline made another announcement: “Due to the increase in violence in Haiti, we are forced to suspend our flights to/from Port-au-Prince until the situation is deemed safe for our crews and customers. At this time, flights are cancelled until January 15, 2025.

Air Transat said it is reaching out to those affected by these cancellations.

We continue to closely monitor the situation and will share any relevant updates as soon as possible,” said the airline.

Air Transat’s update can be found here.
