The latest data from Statistics Canada on Canadian travel to the U.S. shows that for the month of August 2025, Canadian-resident return trips by air from the U.S. were down 25.4% year over year.

The latest data from Statistics Canada on Canadian travel to the U.S. shows that for the month of August 2025, Canadian-resident return trips by air from the U.S. were down 25.4% year over year.
That’s almost exactly in line with the July 2025 drop of 25.8%.
StatCan notes that Air Canada flights were cancelled or delayed in mid-August due to labour disruptions; Toronto Pearson International and Montréal Trudeau International airports saw the largest declines.
Meanwhile Canadian-resident return trips from overseas countries were up by 6.6% compared to August 2024.
Canada-to-USA Car Travel Drops 34%
Last month’s 25% decline in air travel from Canada to the U.S. is eclipsed by the decline in Canada-to-U.S. automobile traffic.
Canadian-resident return trips by automobile dropped 34% in August 2025. It’s the eighth consecutive month of year-over-year declines.
