This summer, skip the bragging and let your European vacation speak for itself

Let’s face it – sometimes bragging about an upcoming European vacation can be selfishly satisfying. Yet this summer, things are a little different with the “Sneaky Euro Trip” – a new trend where you make no mention of upcoming travels then suddenly appear on social media living your best life in Europe. With dozens of countries to explore, here are a few European hotspots for your surprise trip across the pond.

Opatija, Croatia

Croatia has become a trending destination over the past few years, and it’s no wonder given the country’s rich culture and stunning coastline along the Adriatic Sea. While some travelers opt for popular spots like Split and Dubrovnik, consider going off the beaten path to Opatija. Once the premier holiday destination for 19th century nobility, the seaside escape is the perfect place to break your social media silence with pictures of the city’s enchanting parks and some of Croatia’s finest beaches.

 Florence, Italy

There’s no better place to hard launch your European holiday than the birthplace of the Renaissance. Here you can fill your days by exploring some of the city’s most iconic sites like the Ponte Vecchio bridge, Michelangelo's statue of David, Boboli Gardens and Florence Cathedral. And, of course, a trip to Tuscany isn’t complete without a glass or two of Italian wine. For a truly Instagrammable experience, consider seeking out one of Florence’s famed wine windows for a quick drink while discovering the city.

 Cambridge, United Kingdom

For those seeking more of the dark academia aesthetic on their grid, consider Cambridge. Less than an hour’s train ride from London, the historic town is home to one of the world’s most prestigious universities. Take in Cambridge by roaming the Fitzwilliam Museum, touring King’s College Chapel or even popping into the many shops and restaurants throughout the city center. For a more intimate experience, consider a peaceful punting (boat) tour down the River Cam – the pictures will be stellar!

 Rotterdam, The Netherlands

As the second largest city in The Netherlands, Rotterdam is a must-visit. The city is awash with modern architecture, food and art, allowing tourists to immerse themselves in the local culture. The camera always eats first at The Markthal, a horseshoe-shaped building with a market hall underneath where over a hundred vendors sell everything from cheese to vegetables to the famous Dutch Stroopwaffel. For a quirky way to announce your European adventure, snap a pic while enjoying a ride through Rotterdam’s canals in a floating Jacuzzi; that will be sure to rack up the likes and comments.
