The airline reported that it anticipates an 11 percent increase in capacity for the upcoming winter season

Air Canada has announced an expansion of flights this winter into several destinations including Cancun. The airline reported that it anticipates an 11 percent increase in capacity for the upcoming winter season.

Compared to 2022, they plan to operate 8 percent more than pre-pandemic figures, which includes adding more weekly flights into Cancun. Air Canada says the route expansions will include Florida, Montreal to Palm Beach, Toronto to Fort Myers, and from Vancouver to Miami, Cancun, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Las Vegas and Phoenix.

The powerhouse sun and sand destination of Cancun will see the most increases for Air Canada and their sister company Air Canada Vacations with as many as 21 flights per week out of Toronto. The airline has also announced 14 flights from Montreal, seven from Vancouver, four from Quebec and three each from Halifax, Ottawa and Edmonton.

We are seeing continued strong interest in winter leisure travel, and as the leading airline from Canada to the most popular sunbathing destinations, with up to 683 weekly flights planned for this winter, we are delighted to be adding exciting new services from Toronto and Montreal to the Caribbean and Mexico and significant increases from our Vancouver hub in response to pent-up demand.

With the most coast-to-coast flights this winter, to the most popular sun destinations and convenient package travel options through Air Canada Vacations, customers can start booking vacations to the destination of their choice now,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada.

The airline will also increase flights into Punta Cana with up to 14 flights per week from Toronto, 12 from Montreal, four from Ottawa and three from Halifax.

With the non-stop routes recently announced by Air Canada, the return of seasonal destinations as well as the increased capacity, customers will be able to book their next dream vacation with ease and can choose from our exhaustive collection of hotels and resorts,” added Nino Montagnese, Vice President, Air Canada Vacations.
