In coming days, an increase in flights into the Cancun International Airport will start with the arrival of more air passengers. Since late last year, several airlines began announcing spring and summer increases in their current weekly flights into the world’s 10th busiest international airport.

Beginning May, Frontier Airlines will increase flights from Houston’s Hobby to three times a week and George Bush to four times a week. The company has also committed to a Tampa to Cancun flight three times a week.

Condor has reported an increase in May on its Frankfurt-Cancun route, going from four to five per week. In turn, TUI announced that it will increase its operations into the summer months on UK flights from Manchester, London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Bristol and Newcastle, among others, in addition to Amsterdam and Brussels to Cancun.

Iberojet began operations from Lisbon to Cancun in April. The airline says they have planned increases from Madrid to Cancun in July, as well as a new route that will begin in June from Barcelona to Cancun.

AirCaraïbes will start the route from Paris-Orly to Cancun in October with two weekly frequencies. In December, it will increase to three.

In the case of South America, SKY Airlines will expand its flights from Lima to Cancun on a daily basis as of May 1. Likewise, Volaris will begin to fly that same Lima to Cancun route on a daily basis beginning June.

As for the Island of Cozumel, both American Airlines and Southwest will return in June with flights from Denver and Austin. As of May 5, southwest will increase its Miami to Cozumel flights to daily.

Also in May, United Airlines will restarts its Los Angeles to Cancun flights on a weekly basis, while Air Canada resumes its Tuesday Montreal to Cancun route. In June, Suncountry will also restart its Dallas to Cancun route every Thursday and Sunday.

On May 5, a direct flight from Chetumal to Cancun will begin three times a week with Aeromar, while GAirways has announced a new air route between Guatemala and Chetumal for next month.

Earlier this year, the Cancun International Airport was listed one of the busiest airports in the world. According to the Airports Council International (ACI), the Cancun Airport surpassed Mexico City’s AICM with international traffic, ranking it the 10th busiest globally.
