More than two dozen air routes from various Canadian cities are expected to connect with Cancun this winter. Jesús Almaguer Salazar, President of the Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres, said they anticipate around 27 city connections from Canada to Cancun for the upcoming winter travel season starting November.

In an interview, Almaguer Salazar also said that the Hotel Association is expecting occupancy rates of at least 85 percent from November to April, in part due to the expansion of airline routes into Cancun.

The additional flights will help with the recovery of the Canadian market since during the pandemic, travel restrictions were in place. Almaguer Salazar said that already, some hotels are reporting 80 percent reservation rates for the upcoming winter travel season.
