The secretary of tourism says they are working on strategies to improve the entry process of foreign tourists at the Cancun International Airport
The secretary of tourism says they are working on strategies to improve the entry process of foreign tourists at the Cancun International Airport. Bernardo Cueto Riestra, the newly appointed head of the state tourism says they, together with state officials, are fine-tuning strategies to improve the processing times for foreign tourists.
Riestra acknowledges that greater coordination is needed between the government of Quintana Roo and the different authorities that operate at the Cancun International Airport to improve visitor service.

“We make a lot of effort to attract visitors, and that is why once they are here, it is our priority to make them feel good from the moment they arrive at the airport with prompt attention” he said.
Riestra said they are working on becoming more involved with immigration, customs and security authorities, along with the airport’s managing company, ASUR.
“We must work hard to streamline migration processes. We are going to support each other with assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to advance these processes and other airport operation issues,” he added.
He said that last week in Cancun, he met with Jimena Escobedo Juárez, the General Director of Political Coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the issues they face at the Cancun International Airport, in particular, the streamlining of immigration processes.
“What is intended is to avoid the bottlenecks with the arrival of tourists,” he said, admitting that the immigration service is very important because it is the first impression foreign tourists have when they arrive in the country.
