News / WestJet tops North America for on-time performance in Q2
According to the latest Cirium On-Time Performance Report, WestJet ranked first among North American carriers for June after 86.4% of its nearly 17,000 flights arrived on time

WestJet has been named North America’s most on-time airline for the second consecutive month, while also claiming the top spot across the entire second quarter of 2026.
According to the latest Cirium On-Time Performance Report, WestJet ranked first among North American carriers for June after 86.4% of its nearly 17,000 flights arrived on time. The airline also placed sixth globally among major airlines.
The June results capped a strong second quarter for the carrier, making WestJet the most punctual airline in North America for all of Q2 – a first for the airline.
“Leading North America in on-time performance for all of Q2 is a testament to the focus and commitment of WestJetters across our operation,” said Safa Yamach, Vice-President, Operations Planning & Performance at WestJet.
“While these rankings are an important benchmark, what matters most is what they represent for our guests: a more reliable travel experience. From investing in our systems and processes to completing major fleet initiatives ahead of schedule, WestJetters are building a stronger, more resilient operation that is delivering measurable results.”
WestJet said its June on-time performance was nearly four percentage points higher than the next highest-ranked North American airline. The carrier also achieved a completion factor of 99.43%, reflecting the percentage of scheduled flights that operated as planned.
In a separate operational milestone, WestJet also announced it has completed the retrofit of its remaining Boeing 737 aircraft previously configured with 180 seats, finishing the project ahead of schedule.
Originally expected to wrap up this fall, the fleet standardization initiative was completed in mid-June while the airline maintained its busy spring flying schedule.
WestJet said standardizing its narrowbody fleet will reduce operational complexity, support greater consistency across the network and further strengthen on-time performance during the peak summer travel season.
