News / WestJet Group finalizes integration of Sunwing Airlines
This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth

The WestJet Group has officially completed the integration of Sunwing Airlines, unifying all of its narrowbody operations under WestJet Airlines.
The milestone marks two years since WestJet first began the process following its acquisition of Sunwing in May 2023.
WestJet’s proposed integration date was initially set for Oct. 26, 2024, but this date was eventually pushed back by six months.
The final phase of integration, realized on May 29, 2025, aligns with WestJet’s strategy to expand its sun and leisure travel offerings while enhancing connectivity and value for Canadian travellers. With the consolidation now complete, WestJet has brought together all jet aircraft under a single Air Operator Certificate (AOC), including 16 former Swoop aircraft, nine aircraft acquired from the now defunct Lynx Air, and 18 from Sunwing Airlines.
WestJet plans to reconfigure the cabins of the newly integrated aircraft to its standard interior throughout the remainder of 2025. Once completed, travellers can expect a consistent onboard experience across the airline’s 150 Boeing 737 aircraft, featuring seating options such as Premium, Economy, Extended Comfort and UltraBasic.
Additionally, guests flying on WestJet with reservations through the Sunwing Vacations brand – which remains a key player in the Canadian leisure market – or its wholly owned tour operator businesses, can expect an improved travel experience, as WestJet continues streamlining processes.
